Peony love

This Kris Atomic print is the most perfect thing I’ve ever seen (and perfectly sums up my feelings for 11 months of the year! Why peonies?!! Whhyyyyyyy?!!) and I need it in my life just as much as I need peonies – and that’s a hell of a lot!

Unfortunately this print is sold out (at the moment at least! Please make more Kris! &the arts;), but peony season is still here in Australia (just!), and over the weekend I managed to score myself two beautifully fragranced bunches at my local farmers market!! (Insert crazy happy peony face here!!)
Happy peony season (but seriously – why only one month peonies??)

country life dreaming

i can’t stop thinking about this place!

nestled just outside of my favourite country town, the Red Brick Barn is a two-story guesthouse that looks like it’s been standing for centuries, when it fact it’s just a few years old! the owners built it using reclaimed bricks – in fact, everything in the Barn is second hand! it’s like a vintage dream!

i can imagine myself waking up to that gorgeous sunlight

sitting down here with hot cup of coffee

maybe being brave enough to use the outdoor shower/tub
(probably not in winter though…)

having an afternoon nap here (or just owning that quilt!!)

preparing delicious hearty meals

& i just want this to be my bathroom…please!

just imagine being surrounded by this beauty everyday?!

i’m in “i-want-to-live-in-a-barn-in-the-country” mode (again…hahaha yes yes, this happens often! just ask poor Mike!), but after seeing this place, do you blame me?
pretty sure i need a trip out to Chewton to stay here

photo booth memories

i’ve always been obsessed with photo booths
such a simple machine that can bring so much joy in under 5 minutes (well, for me at least)
on our trip we were lucky enough to stay at both the Ace Hotel in Portland & in Palm Springs, which meant we had access to the photo booth in the lobby (making me a very happy lady)
Mike on the other hand…not so happy
im not sure why (why Mikey, why?!) but Mike does not like photo booths & their teeny little black & white photos

in the past 10 years i have managed to get him to pose with me three times!!
three times!
funnily enough, all three happened on overseas trips. Once at the Good Hotel in San Francisco, & the other 2 at the same 2 ace hotels on our last trip to the USA.

when you count those odds…it’s not looking good for me!

so this trip i decided to double that tally, dragging poor Mike to pose with me three times (once in Portland, twice in Palm Springs) in as many days.
this was the last one we took & i’m so in love with it
we generally have a knack of being caught completely off guard & pulling the worst faces (i’ll share the others later! haha), so to finally have a semi normal pic in our collection just makes me smile

this was from the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs, just as we were checking out of our hotel to drive back to LA.
it was the last day of our very wonderful holiday…

gosh i love these little photo strips!

…and we’re back…

two incredible weeks have passed in the blink of an eye
how is our trip over already?!
with good coffee, delicious food (hello in-and-out burger! omg!!), star-struck moments, red carpet events, amazing people, vintage dresses, twin peaks geekiness…
…& the most exciting surprise of all…
it was the most amazing holiday ever
(i’ll spill the beans soon! promise!)

travel essentials

travel essentials
with two sleeps to go, we’ve officially reached crazy packing mode over here!
well…to be fair, Mike had his case packed yesterday, while i only just began today! (i was still hand washing vintage dresses this afternoon! eeeps!)
i still haven’t put anything into my suitcase, but i have everything in neat piles around it…that counts as packing, right?

i was trying to figure out what i needed for the plane, so i thought i’d play around with polyvore & come up with my travel essentials.

journals are a necessity for me, especially with 14 hours to fill! and i never travel without sudoku – i’m obsessed! the first thing i do when i get on the plane is flick through the travel magazine to make sure no one else has filled the games in! hahaha my iPhone doesn’t have much music on it at the moment…but it does have my sudoku app (see – obsessed!) & warm socks are also a must – every time i fly i manage to wake up mid flight with freezing toes!

the globetrotter suitcase is just there for fun – i’m sort of in love ❤

well i better get packing – my dresses won’t pack themselves (though i do wish they would!)

so much has changed yet so much has stayed the same

the world's at your feet

i logged into polyvore for the first time in four years (four years?!! how does that even happen??) to put together a few sets as outfit inspiration for my upcoming trip…but after browsing through my previous sets i’m left feeling amused that although so much has changed, so much has stayed the same.

i guess at the core of my lusts there has always been travel, stars, hearts, pretty dresses & a dash of whimsy…

Other Pretty Things – Valentine’s Edition

i was so sidetracked with Mikes arrival home that i managed to forget that Valentine’s Day is next week!
while i love love, Valentine’s Day isn’t a big celebration for us (i don’t even know why actually…maybe i need to bring it back 😉 hehehe), but i thought i’d put together a mini edition of other pretty things – Valentine’s Day style!
The Glasshouse Candle in tahaa is our favourite – hands down! Mike actually discovered it when walking past a store to meet me after work. it makes me think of freshly baked cookies whenever i smell it – just delicious!
and i’m not even sure how i found the ‘We Belong in San Francisco’ print by little canoe, but it just sums us up so well!
the swedish hasbeens, giant dwarf constellation crown & bottle (or 10!) of the chandon sparkling rose…well, they’re just a few little things i would love to make my own 😉

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

hope you have a happy valentine’s day

other pretty things

let me start the list off with these pens!

oh my goodness – it’s like a dream come true! i’ve been going through a pen a week at my current rate of writing (which is not a good thing, considering i’ve been stealing Mikey’s “fancy” expensive pens! heehee) so a pen that will allow 1.5 metres of writing a day for the next 7 years..? it’s a total no brainer!

i am a bit of a journal junkie, but this beautiful leather journal from inblue handmade takes the cake! it took me forever just to narrow down which one i liked the most, but i can never go past stacks of vintage suitcases (yet another weakness)!

just look at this gorgeous vintage dress

those colours! and the roses! ahhh! it’s just too perfect ❤
(and seriously, how could i not add a dress into my list! it’s kind of a no brainer 😉

now i’m not sure which tights i want more

these ones

or these
i’m almost certain i would get more wear out of the fuchsia/violet ones, but i’m crushing on all shades of sunset at the moment!

and while we’re on the topic of ombré…

Mermaid hair!!! so in love
This is actually my dream hair, though I’m not sure I have the balls to go through with it. Maybe one day…

this stunning book by Megan Morton
the cover alone won me over, but it’s filled with so many beautiful images.

Eeeeeeep!! Tis the (very short) season for my favourite beauties
Am trying to figure out how many bunches of these babies I can grab before I’m totally broke! Hahaha

What pretty things have been catching your eye lately?

words that make my heart skip a beat

San Fran 2010

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way

than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

– Pablo Neruda

dream birthday cake

yes, i have decided to write a (very short) post about my dream birthday cake (only 3 more sleeps! eeee)
i spotted this frozen chocolate peanut butter pie over at A Beautiful Mess, & i’m pretty sure i’ve been dreaming about it ever since

look how good it looks!
i’m a total sucker for chocolate & peanut butter together (hello Reece’s peanut butter cups & other delicious peanut buttery treats!) so now all i need is someone to make this for me…? pretty please??
i suppose i could always bake it myself (especially since i am the resident baker amongst my friends) but where’s the fun in that? 😉
so what i’m basically saying is…

Dear Birthday Fairy,
(you exist, right?) can i please have this delicious frozen chocolate peanut butter pie for my birthday?
pretty please?
thank you & goodnight
Cheray x
