Blurry San Jose

the rest of San Jose was quite blur
the premiere went off & the crowd absolutely loved it (even though they did start the screening while we were still on the red carpet! hah! talk about crazy)
there was a lot of drinking, not very much sleeping & a lot of film screenings – two of Sparks & a few of the midnight screenings we managed to catch (one was all about zombies! oh yeah!)
we did manage to take quite a lot of video footage, but that needs to be edited…a lot! haha
here’s the rest of our San Jose trip…

Chase, Marina & Ashley on the red carpet
Clint Howard…
…with the rest of the cast & crew up on stage

after the screening we headed over to a bar for the after party
where the drinking began
Floyd drove for hours to make it
Tyler & Max
we were at the club till close & (unfortunately) have video proof of it
(it may involve me swapping my heels for a pair of sneakers…oh man…)
such an incredibly fun night though

the morning after came quickly
look at my expression! hahaha (i couldn’t even drink my coffee)
take two
Clint Howard introducing the film
and the cast & crew up on stage for the Q&A
saying farewell to San Jose with a delicious flat white

thank you San Jose

Sparks Red Carpet

the red carpet was hilarious.
and by hilarious i actually mean kind of terrifying! (in a good way of course)

there were people everywhere, along with crazy bright lights & more cameras then you could poke a stick at! it was really wild!
i’ve been on the press line before, taking pictures of people on the red carpet when i helped Mike out with Indie Film Nation, and even that was crazy – not to mention i was a little star struck (Joseph Gordon Levitt!!!!!), but this was a whole new strange level for me!
i did feel like my face was going to burst from smiling so much – but i figure that can’t be a bad thing!

some friends managed to snap some photos of us as we were shuffled down the press line so i thought i’d share a few
(even though this one is blurry, it really shows the madness that was the red carpet!)
it was really such a fun experience.
plus i managed to find a 1940s dress to fit in with the era of the film, so i ticked that one off my list!

i wore: vintage 1940’s dress from Shag / sportsgirl heels / vintage bag
mike wore: ted baker endurance suit / ted baker shirt

do you know the way to San Jose

yes – we were those tourists, humming this song on the flight over
we did take up a few rows on the plane so i think we got away with it! πŸ˜‰

San Jose was surreal.
Not only did we have the film premiere at the Cinequest Film Festival, but the Sparks comic book launched the night we arrived, as well as other press lunches & interviews that had to be done. Mike was run off his feet!

i was able to meet everyone i’d heard so very much about – it was lovely to finally put faces to names! Some friends traveled to be there the night of the premiere which meant so much to us! (thank you so much Amy!) the support was incredible!

With so much happening all at once i forgot to take as many photos as i would have liked, but here’s day one of San Jose…
using wifi to instagram photos from the air
room with a view
the beautiful California Theatre – our venue for the premiere!
the cherry blossoms were in bloom
it was such a beautiful day but before we knew it, it was time for the comic book launch
William Katt & Clancy Brown
(& me hiding in the far corner on my phone!)
Chase Williamson & Chris Folino
Mike was busy updating all the Sparks social media sites
this guy brought his own swords to recreate a battle scene with Clancy Brown
…it was crazy
so was this…
the comic book crew

by the time we packed up at the comic book store & found a place to have dinner we were wrecked!
bed time couldn’t come quickly enough…

Sparks & a shameless plug ;)

this is the reason behind our somewhat sudden trip to the USA

Sparks – the movie that Mike went over to the USA to help produce early last year – is having its world premiere at the 2013 Cinequest Film Festival!!!
Our good friend Chris is the man behind the movie & i’m so very proud (& excited & ecstatic!! eeee!!) to see how all of their hard work is finally paying off.
not to mention that i’m absolutely thrilled to be able to head over with Mike to see Sparks in all its glory!

As stated on the Cinequest Film Festival website:

With great power, comes greater villains.

Based on his own cult comic hit, Christopher Folino’s groundbreaking superhero noir thriller follows Ian Sparks (Chase Williamson, John Dies at the End), a young man destined to protect others from the grips of evil. He may not have the physical prowess of other Supers, but his lovable charm easily captures the heart of the beautiful Lady Heavenly (Ashley Bell, The Last Exorcism). Together they become the go-to heroes, but after a traumatizing encounter with the villainous Matanza (William Katt, Carrie), Sparks plunges into darkness. Overcome with defeat and self-doubt, will he find his way back to the light or betray all that he once stood for?

With a brilliant supporting cast, including Clancy Brown (Shawshank Redemption), Jake Busey (Starship Troopers), Clint Howard (Apollo 13), and Marina Squerciati (Gossip Girls), Sparks delivers action, twists, and excitement. – Sharon Gonzales

Sparks World Premiere is on Friday March 1st & there are additional screenings on Saturday March 2nd & Tuesday March 5th. if you’re in the San Jose area you should definitely come on over & check it out – tickets are available here.

with all of that being said, i’m now on a mission to find a 1940’s frock to wear for the premiere. as cheesy as it is, i’ve decided i want to match the era of the film (that & the fact that 1940’s gowns are just stunning!)
if anyone spots one, feel free to let me know πŸ˜‰
and any tips on 1940’s hair & makeup would be most welcome! i’m about to you-tube up a storm to try & learn some new styles

Congratulations Mike, Chris & all the gang over at Sideshow Productions! i’m so proud of all of you & can’t wait to see you all next month to celebrate ❀
