Peony love

null
This Kris Atomic print is the most perfect thing I’ve ever seen (and perfectly sums up my feelings for 11 months of the year! Why peonies?!! Whhyyyyyyy?!!) and I need it in my life just as much as I need peonies – and that’s a hell of a lot!

Unfortunately this print is sold out (at the moment at least! Please make more Kris! &the arts;), but peony season is still here in Australia (just!), and over the weekend I managed to score myself two beautifully fragranced bunches at my local farmers market!! (Insert crazy happy peony face here!!)

Dumbo feather Christmas Fete

image
We stopped by the Dumbo Feather Christmas Fete this Saturday, which was held at the gorgeous ground of the White House in St Kilda.
image
image
image
They had transformed the yard into the cutest little setup of market stalls – including flowers by Cecelia Fox (which is how I found out about the fete in the first place!), where I managed to pick up the sweetest smelling roses I’ve ever come across!!
IMG_4768
They were just divine ♥
image
The Allpress coffee was just spot on (as always!) and I desperately wanted to steal the Dumbo Feather airstream trailer!! Ahhhh so dreamy!!
image
Mikey and Kerouac were the perfect market dates ever!
IMG_4770
And my outfit – though one of my favourite vintage dresses – was not good for a blustery Melbourne day! Oi vey! Right after Mikey took this photo I almost crushed my flowers in an attempt to keep my dress down! Haha needless to say, a quick yet hilarious walk home ensued! 😉

Oh Melbourne!

Twilight Markets

image
The St kilda twilight markets are on again, so we spent the evening wandering around, exploring the stalls and watching the plethora of fire twirlers!

Mike caught this on his iPhone while we were there! (Nice one babe!)

We may have also ended the night with a cheeky nightcap! Red wine for him, chai-tini for me (it’s like an alcoholic iced chai! Ridiculously delicious and highly I recommend you try it!)

Crazy plant lady update

My plant game is still going strong!
IMG_4623
I just did my first lot of repotting and I’m just a littttttle bit excited ♥
IMG_4602
I bought the spiky aloe looking plant from some little old ladies at a garage sale (with the accompanying snail! lol) and managed to get 10 plants out of the one pot! (and for the bargain price of $10 too!)
IMG_4605
Genna then gifted me this adorable little succulent, along with some pana chocolate and delicious chocolate lip balm! ♥ thanks sweet lady ♥
IMG_4628
Mike believes I’ve replaced my vintage obsession with a plant obsession…which isn’t entirely true! 😉 I still love vintage, I just don’t have any more space for it! But plants! How can I not! They’re just too cute ♥

Hunters and Collectors

Hunters & Collectors played their final show at the Palais on Saturday night and Mike managed to score us front row seats!! ♥
We decided to make a night of it, heading first to the Dogs Bar for their ‘starving artists’ dinner special!
Every nifht from 5-7pm the Dogs Bar has three meal choices – pasta, risotto & a vegetarian option, plus a glass of house wine or beer for $15! Starving Artists indeed! ♥
Untitled
we sat outside under the heater and reminisced about our fave dinner spot in San Fran that has the same cosy outward facing seating ♥ love!

The gig was sold out and the Palais was already filled with people, so we milled around, grabbed another wine (or two!) and Mike bought some merch.
The Palais is such a grand old theatre – so much history and so many little details fill every inch of this building.
Untitled
when we got to our seats we were a little excited. ok, i lie…ridiculously excited!!
Untitled
(excuse the grainy photo…but just so excited!!♥)
it was the first time I had ever seen Hunters & Collectors in concert – I’ve seen Mark Seymour quite a few times and good old Jack Howard was the man who saved Kerouac when she escaped last New Year’s Day (Thanks Jack!)
Untitled
they were electric!
Untitled
We were on our feet singing and bopping away the entire time! Everyone was!
Untitled
it was pure magic ♥
i was sitting right next to the speakers so i could definitely hear every last sound that was blaring out to us all (my ears were also ringing for the next few days too!)
Untitled
i’m secretly hoping this wasn’t their last ever show because they are just too good live! If you haven’t seen them you simply must! Their songs are like anthems (well, Holy Grail is most definitely an anthem!) if you haven’t heard of them, look them up! Aussie rock at its best!

Farewell Hunnas!!
you fucking rock!

RSPCA Million Paws Walk

last weekend we ditched our sunday morning sleep in to join thousands of others (2 legged & 4 legged alike!) at the RSPCA Million Paws Walk. it’s an annual event held Australia wide & we’ve been meaning to sign up for the past few years, so this year we finally looked up our local event, registered & wandered on over to Albert Park Lake with our little fur-baby.

kerouac can sometimes be a little on the grumpy side (when it comes to small fluffy dogs that is. she loves humans! pretty sure she thinks she is human!) so we had high hopes that she would behave herself for this very doggy outing – & she definitely didn’t disappoint!
#PicFrame
DSC09920
i’m actually not sure how she managed to be so calm considering the monstrous crowd – i guess she was just overwhelmed with all the sights, smells & pups! the race began while we were still making our way to the starting line!
DSC09923
and they’re off
#PicFrame
look at that huge grin!
DSC09929
the long trail of pups & people stretched half way around the lake – such a sight to see!

and here’s a pic of me looking ridiculously tired (can i add that this was pre-caffiene & well into our second hour of walking? haha)
DSC09933
the RSPCA did such a brilliant job – the Million Paws Walk was a total success raising over half a million dollars in Victoria alone! all three of us had a blast & although we humans were pooped, pups seemed to be on some sort of a high! so much for tuckering her out! haha
Make sure you check out their website & sign up yourself – it really is such a great cause!

the last of the summer sunshine

a few weekends ago, before Melbourne became the obligatory winter wonderland, Penny & i headed out in the last of the summer sunshine on a little vintage shopping adventure. while we didn’t document any of that (what is wrong with us?!) we did make a stop at The St Kilda Dispensary – where i went a bit snap happy (to say the least!)

i’m in love with the decor here – clean lines, hints of vintage & a whole pile of medical equipment. it fits in perfectly with the fact that back in the day, the building itself was actually the St Kilda Medical Dispensary!!
the owner Kristy is just lovely & found all the pieces herself – i’m just a teeeeensy bit jealous of her incredible finds! 😉
DSC09825
Penny got straight to instagraming
DSC09834
while my attempt at a selfie failed (still getting the hang of the manual setting on my camera!)
DSC09830
thankfully there’s always coffee to save the day
DSC09829
i love the cute little sugar jars – our souvenir spoon was London Bridge!
(did i ever mention that i have a souvenir spoon collection?? because i do…)
DSC09827
this here is my favourite cozy corner
look at those light globes! and the crutches in the corner! and the little bursts of colour from the flowers scattered all around! ahhh so so perfect!
DSC09831
DSC09836
it has come to my attention that this is what i look like whenever this meal is placed in front of me. i literally just sit there grinning at it.
can you blame me though?
DSC09832
look at it! The ever so delicious veggie breakfast roll – with avo & feta mash, a fried egg, rocket & hollandaise sauce…oh man! i’m getting hungry just thinking about it!
DSC09841
DSC09833
Penny had a delicious scone & jam slider! how cute is it?!!
all the meals here are affordable & from the few i’ve tried, they’re also delicious (though i do keep having the veggie breakfast roll! it’s just too good!)
DSC09843
this is actually the hardest window to get a shot of – this was the best out of them all. the brightness meant the reflections were off the hook! sorry! haha

not wanting the deliciousness to end there, we decided to grab ourselves a couple of cupcakes from Southside Markets
DSC09846
unfortunately they didn’t taste as good as they looked…
actually, they were awful & after one tiny bite we both threw them out! such a waste & so so sad

we decided that the only way to get rid of the bad cupcake taste & cure our blues was to have even more food
DSC09855
naturally we went for chips with aioli dip
DSC09854
we also got some sparkling rose – the perfect companion to chips!
(haha probably not but it is delicious)
DSC09862
pretty roses that i wanted to take home with me

we had such a fun, food-filled day & i can’t believe those sunny days are already so far behind us! oh well – we’ll just have to wear more layers next time! 😉
